It’s less than a week until the only day of the year that we’re closed! We’ll be open Noon until 6pm on Sunday (Christmas Eve) and closed on Christmas Day. Make your plans accordingly. And of course, don’t forget to shamble on down to the stores, not only to get some fine films, but to grab some lovely gifts for the ones you love or your family. Brawl in Cell Block 99 – Vince Vaughn must fight his way through a bunch of tough guys in prison for some reason. From the fella who brought you the amazing and brutal Bone Tomahawk. I cannot wait to see this!

Dunkirk – Chris Nolan (Memento) takes his fine cinematic eye to the beaches of Dunkirk for this 3/4s amazing movie. Thousands of British soldiers are trapped on the beach as the Nazi’s approach to kill them all. It’s up to regular folk and their regular boats to rescue them. It’s a pretty riveting film for most of the running time but it falters, like most of Nolan’s films, (in my opinion) near the end. I won’t give away any spoilers except to say that the Allies won the war and the Nazi’s lost.

Jeepers Creepers 3 – Supposed horror movie about a scarecrow or something that eats people. Seems they’ll make a horror movie about anything these days. What’s next, a killer snowman? Oh wait, that’s been done. Maybe a bed that eats people? Seen it. Killer tires? Yep. Possessed hair extensions? Who knew? Zombie beavers? Sigh.

Leatherface – Be there when little Leatherface gets his fist chainsaw! Share the precious moments with him as he fashions his first mask made out of human skin. Awww. They grow up so fast! I guess when you’re born with the name “Leatherface” your lot in life is pretty much laid out for you. Directed, for some reason, by the folks that made the outstanding French horror film, Inside.

Yes, that’s right it’s almost here! Our podcast! You thought I was talking about Christmas, didn’t you? We’ll that’s almost here as well. Mother! – One of my most anticipated films of the year (can’t believe I still haven’t seen it!) finds Jennifer Lawrence (J-Law) and Javier Bardem (Jav-Bard) living a nice tranquil life but then some people show up and won’t leave or something like that. Think maybe Rosemary’s Baby or maybe Transformers 2 (probably not Transformers) or something along those lines.

Stronger – Jake Gyllenhall gets his legs blown off during the Boston Marathon (by a bomb). His story of recovery inspires a nation. Interesting fact – Gyllenhall actually had his legs removed for the film (that’s some method acting). They eventually grew back.
